Special Occasion
Longevity, or ‘shou’ in Mandarin, is one of the three important goals in the Chinese way of life. Many special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries and weddings are celebrated with these edible auspicious gifts.
Nian Gao (Chinese New Year Cake)
Making these sticky glutinous rice cakes is a labour of love and Tai Chong Kok's time-honoured recipe calls for the sweet, sticky mixture to be wrapped in banana leaf and steamed for 12 hours for the aromatic taste of tradition.
Longevity Bun (Birthday)
Soft, steamed buns filled with silky lotus paste are shaped to look like pink peaches that represent longevity in Chinese traditions.
Longevity Noodles
Symbolising a long life and enjoyed on special occasions like birthdays and ren ri during the Lunar New Year, these long unbroken strands are made of wheat flour, suitable for any number of preparations.
Wedding Gift Box
This modern gift box holds Tai Chong Kok’s signature tau sar piah in three flavours, as well as a Dragon Phoenix pastry traditionally presented by the Cantonese as a betrothal gift.
